About Me

I'm not your average woman.  I'm 59 years old, have ten adult children and just had my 16th grandchild last week.  I've homeschooled my kids for 29 years; my last graduates this summer.  We raised our kids to be independent, inventive, and creative — many are entrepreneurs and own their own businesses.  We used to be a bit farm-y and raised chickens for eggs and meat, goats for milk, turkeys, and even had alpacas for a few years.  I've always encouraged my kids to try new things, so we're a pretty diverse family in interests and personalities.  My daughter and I own a small candle company and sell through gift shops in our area.

I've always been talkative and love using words to express ideas and perspective  I've journaled for years.  My writing focuses on faith and living it out in life and family.  Something I recently realized was how much the the Waltons show  inspired me while growing up — so my picture of family was always of a close-knit crew, laughing around the table, and sharing adventures.  That pretty much came true and I loved my life as mom.

My main goals as a friend or a writer:  To encourage women to be thinkers.  To not just follow the crowd.  To own choices and make the best of their time as mom.  To trust their instincts.  To love their children and time at home.  To enjoy the process of raising adults to be all they were created to be.

I focus on faith and reminding women to follow and trust God who created them.  Over a year ago, I tried to leave God out of my blog, thinking it would limit my reach, but I soon realized that wasn't authentic to my message.  I would not be who I am without Him and can't leave Him out of my lessons and message.

I'm looking forward to learning more of where my writing can take me, but more important, to see how I can best use my gift of writing and my experiences to encourage and bless other women.

Looking forward to this class!
